This piece is a collaboration combining Lucy’s marbled ceramic tiles and Nora Schuchat’s hand embroidery. Both of their studio practices center a commitment to materiality by incorporating patient, hand-driven processes to create abstract work using organic materials like thread, paper, ceramic, and wood. To create this piece, Nora first selected two marbled pink tiles from a large collection Lucy made. The artists considered different compositions, and settled on nestling the tiles partway inside a soft, nearly rectangle shape. Then Nora spent several months carefully embroidering a light blue grid, before the tiles and embroidery were carefully mounted and then installed for the Material Attention show at SeeSaw gallery in March of 2026. This piece is 8 × 7 × 0.75” and mounts onto the wall with a small metal cleat. All pieces are carefully packaged and ship free via USPS.
